SUMMARY:Shifting Power\, Sustaining Movements: Who Decides the Future?
DESCRIPTION:As traditional development aid shrinks\, an urgent question emerges: How can movements build lasting power without becoming dependent on the very systems they seek to change? \n\n\n\nJoin the Karibu Foundation for “Shifting Power\, Sustaining Movements: Who Decides the Future?” — a panel discussion exploring movement building\, resistance\, strategic use of policy\, and the role of participatory grantmaking in strengthening community power. \n\n\n\nTogether with two experienced activists — Thais Alfaro Sandoval\, a Nicaraguan human rights defender and Vice President of SAIH\, and Tererai Obey Sithole\, a Zimbabwean democracy and human rights activist and PhD fellow at the University of Agder — alongside a policy researcher\, we will ask: How do movements move beyond mobilisation to build structures that allow communities to shape their own futures? \n\n\n\nThere will also be time for questions and discussion with the audience\, giving everyone an opportunity to engage with the panellists and share their perspectives. \n\n\n\n Tuesday\, 17 November 2026 Sentralen\, Sofelles 5.\, Øvre Slottsgate 3\, Oslo Time: 16:00 \n\n\n\n Free pizza and a non-alcoholic drink will be provided for all guests! \n\n\n\nThe event is free and open to everyone interested! Whether you’re involved in civil society\, activism\, research\, or simply curious about these questions\, you’re warmly welcome to join us. \n\n\n\nStop the bad. Build the new. Shift power. Sustain movements.
