Shifting Power, Sustaining Movements: Who Decides the Future?
November 17 @ 16:00 – 17:30 CET
As traditional development aid shrinks, an urgent question emerges: How can movements build lasting power without becoming dependent on the very systems they seek to change?
Join the Karibu Foundation for “Shifting Power, Sustaining Movements: Who Decides the Future?” — a panel discussion exploring movement building, resistance, strategic use of policy, and the role of participatory grantmaking in strengthening community power.
Together with two experienced activists — Thais Alfaro Sandoval, a Nicaraguan human rights defender and Vice President of SAIH, and Tererai Obey Sithole, a Zimbabwean democracy and human rights activist and PhD fellow at the University of Agder — alongside a policy researcher, we will ask: How do movements move beyond mobilisation to build structures that allow communities to shape their own futures?
There will also be time for questions and discussion with the audience, giving everyone an opportunity to engage with the panellists and share their perspectives.
