A coalition of Norwegian civil society groups is planning a public protest gathering in front of the Norwegian parliament (Stortinget), to call for an end to the spiraling violence towards civilians in Gaza and in Israel.
The event will take place on Saturday, 28th October from 13:00-14:00 in Oslo.

Stop the killing of civilians!
The conflict in Israel/Gaza has already claimed thousands of human lives. We demand that the violence must end, and that international law be respected. We invite you to meet in front of the Norwegian parliament (Stortinget) on Saturday, 28 October to show your solidarity with the civilians in the conflict!
The demands of the event:
- Let in humanitarian aid

- Stop arbitrary detentions
Background
We condemn the recent horrific acts of violence against civilians in Israel and Palestine. What is happening now is a humanitarian disaster. War crimes cannot be justified by the fact that the other party has also committed war crimes.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas cannot be resolved through violence. The basic human rights of the civilian population must be safeguarded!
We appreciate that the Norwegian government has condemned Hamas’ use of violence and the blockade of Gaza. We are pleased that they have made it clear that humanitarian aid to the Palestinians must be provided and that the international laws of war must be observed by both parties. Civilian hostages must be released, and arbitrary detention must end.
Norway must continue to work for dialogue and for those responsible for war crimes to be held accountable. We need real peace talks and an immediate ceasefire NOW.
We now want to gather as many people as possible to send a clear message from the Norwegian population.

Konflikten i Israel/Gaza har allerede krevd tusenvis av menneskeliv. Vi krever at volden må ta slutt og folkeretten respekteres.

BAKGRUNN:
Vi fordømmer den siste tidens grufulle voldsutøvelser mot sivile i Israel og Palestina. Det som skjer nå er en humanitær katastrofe.
Krigsforbrytelser kan ikke forsvares med at motparten også har begått krigsforbrytelser. Konflikten mellom Israel og Hamas kan ikke løses med vold.
De grunnleggende menneskerettighetene til sivilbefolkningen må ivaretas!
Vi er glade for at den norske regjeringen har fordømt Hamas’ voldsbruk og blokaden av Gaza. Vi er glade for at de har vært tydelig på at humanitær hjelp til palestinerne må komme frem og at krigens folkerett må etterleves av begge parter. Sivile gisler må frigis og vilkårlig fengsling må opphøre. Norge må fortsette å jobbe for dialog og for at de ansvarlige for krigsforbrytelser holdes ansvarlig. Vi trenger reelle fredsforhandlinger og en umiddelbar våpenhvile NÅ.
Vi ønsker nå å samle så mange som mulig for å sende et klart budskap fra den norske befolkning.
